Alright…you’ve received the haircare routine, the skincare routine, now we have arrived at the makeup routine! I feel like I really don’t use that much makeup (even though it looks like a lot when I type it all out) and I seriously can put on my whole face in 5 minutes. I value quality products and have chosen to invest in some nicer brands because girl TRUST ME, I have tried it all and at least on my skin, I can tell a big difference. I definitely have my drugstore faves (maybe I can make a post of those for y’all if you’re interested) but anywho, here’s the makeup I use every day on my face:
Skin:
Foundation: Armani Luminous Silk in shade 4. Yes I am one of the die-hards for this foundation. Which is a real shame because this is SO overpriced it’s wild. BUT I generally only use one pump a day and that provides enough coverage for my taste so I can make a bottle last until the next upcoming holiday when I can ask for a new one as a gift lol. My next fave is the Dior Forever foundation but it just isn’t the same. It is thicker and I feel like my skin looks flakier with that one. I lately have started using my fingers to apply foundation instead of a brush because I felt that my brush was actually making my skin look dry and was like, pulling the dead skin up. And I have noticed a HUGE difference!! 10/10 recommend this technique.
Concealer: Mac Pro Longwear Concealer in shade NC15. So I just recently started wearing concealer under my eyes because work has been taking a toll and I’ve been looking like a troll and someone told me I looked tired when I wasn’t so now I’m self-conscious. This is the same concealer I have HAD since senior year of high school and I really need to replace it because eww. But I love how it looks on my skin! It’s thick and a little goes a long way but it looks really smooth on my skin and brightens my face. I use my fingers to apply this too and if I need help evening it out, I use this MAC concealer brush.
Brightening Powder: KKW Pressed Brightening Powder in shade 1. I just recently got this for Christmas and I love how it adds just an extra *pop* of awake-ness to my under-eyes. I use the KKW brush to apply. I also got the cream contour sticks but need to practice with those a bit more.
Setting Powder: I have been loving the Bare Minerals Bare Pro powder in color Champagne. Obviously. It totally evens out my skin and keeps my foundation in place. I ALWAYS use a setting powder with my foundation. I apply it with this brush from Sephora.
Bronzer: So lately I’ve been using Tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer from my Tarte haul. I am not totally sold on this one and I’m not sure the color is totally right but I’m gonna finish it out. I use this massive Tarte brush to apply and am not a total fan of it because it goes everywhere but I was using a MAC brush and it was shedding hairs on my face like a Labrador so that had to go.
Blush: Nars Orgasm blush is the go to. It looks good on basically everyone and has basically been inducted into the beauty hall of fame at this point. I use an old brush that was in some Lancome giveaway kit haha. Any blush brush will do as long as it’s not too stiff.
Highlighter: I have been using Lorac Highlighter in shade daylight lately and it does the trick. Honestly I don’t know the difference between a bad and good highlighter at this point. As long as it isn’t straight up glitter and I am able to get a glow on my cheek bones, we good.
Eyes:
Liquid Eyeliner: Stila Waterproof liner in black is my GO-TO for years. I wear this on my top lid and love that it gives me the versatility to make the line thick or thin. I’ve never had a problem using liquid liner so I keep coming back to this one. It’s the best one out there for sure.
Eyeliner Pencil: I also have used the Lancome black eyeliner pencil since I started wearing makeup (I’ve gone through a few so don’t worry, this isn’t a concealer situation). I wear it on the outer half of my bottom waterline and I know I know, waterline liner is controversial but I think it’s what looks best for my face so….
Lash Primer: Dior Lash Primer. Please please don’t ever wear mascara without a primer. Trust me on this. Night and day difference.
Mascara: My latest mascara is Estee Lauder Multi Effects in black. I feel like I usually switch mascaras every time I need a new one but I really like this one so maybe I will actually stick with one. Half the brush has short bristles for lengthening and then long bristles for thickening. The biggest thing for me though is that it doesn’t leak under my eyes. Girls, you know what I’m talking about. I hate the under eye mascara stain. ALSO, unpopular opinion, but the Better Than Sex mascara is the worst mascara I have ever used. It was just awful, clumpy, weak, drippy, the whole shabang.
Eyebrow powder: I use Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in color Blonde for my eyebrows actually. I also use their eyebrow brush. This is the perfect natural color for me and is really user friendly. I can build the powder to be as light or dark as I am feeling.
Eyebrow pencil: I just recently started adding the Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil in color chocolate so I can get a bit better at getting that perfect brow look that apparently everyone but me can achieve. It really helps create straight lines and that makes for a more defined look to my brows.
Eye Shadows: I usually don’t wear eyeshadow in my daily routine. I’ve just gotten lazy and have also been going for more of a natural looking face lately so when I take my makeup off at night it’s not like OH MY GOSH WHO ARE YOU. But if I do decide to wear a little, my every day go-tos are MAC pressed pot as a primer, and NARS Andromeda for my lid and NARS Fathom for my crease (it actually goes on way darker than it looks when it’s pressed. If I am going for a bit more of a dramatic or darker look, I use my Bobbi Brown It’s Your Party palette (which they don’t have anyone but it’s similar to this).
Lashes: Like I have mentioned, I stopped getting eyelash extensions about a year ago after having them for about 8 years straight. I honestly do miss them but my wallet doesn’t and at least for right now, I am managing fine without them. While I have been using Rodan + Fields Lash Boost, some days I just really miss the bigger lash look since mine are still pretty small so I use Ardell lashes in Natural 120 (or demi wispies) . I have tried about 55 different lashes in my days and this is the one that I ALWAYS come back to. I wore them (on top of my extensions) on my wedding day and the secret to these is that I think they get better looking over time and the more you wear them, the more natural they start to look. I usually switch them out after 2-3 weeks but I don’t wear them every day either.
Lips:
I have a bazillion lip products, but I have two combos I stick to 90% of the time.
