Our Big Fake Wedding

Surprise! We got married! Again! Except this time, there was nothing legal about it because, you know, we already covered that part the first time. Okay but actually, Alec and I were asked to be the bride and groom for The Big Fake Wedding Seattle and it was 1. such an honor 2. so much fun and 3. such a different vibe than our real wedding. Basically The Big Fake Wedding is a company that goes around the country and puts on “fake weddings” (literally the whole shabang…photos, ceremony, dancing, dinner) so that vendors in the industry in those cities can show off their mad skills and couples who are engaged in those cities can come to get inspo and meet vendors that they’d wanna hire for their own special day!

So how does this all work? Our friend from Biola, Ashley Mae, works for the company and reached out to us once we moved to Seattle this year to see if we would want to be the happy couple and obviously, we said yes, I mean, I do. I mean, we will. And that was about it until the week of the event. I went and did a dress fitting to pick out the dress they wanted me to wear for the event (and we ended up choosing four lol) and this time around, they didn’t have a men’s wardrobe designer so Alec picked from his own closet. All we had to do was bring our bridesmaid, groomsman, and “officiant” (hi mom) and show up on event day! Once we got there, the girls got their hair and makeup done for awhile and then we did 3 rounds of photoshoots out in the brisk Seattle streets (on the same day/ same time as a Seahawks game that was about one block down from us). Alec was such a trooper because I smiled for a living for 5 years and if my face was dead after 3 hours of photo taking, his was double-dead.

So yeah, then we had our “ceremony” where my mom was our “officiant” and read a little script and we rewrote vows to each other and read them and it lasted all of about 5 minutes haha! Then we partied, had drinks, and got sweaty dancing just like the real deal. They had a bunch of different tables set up with different themes and I wanted to share them all because they were so cool but didn’t want to overwhelm your eyes with tablescapes 🤷🏼‍♀️ You may be wondering, was this easier than my own wedding day? Everyone kept asking me that and honestly it was harder!! I mean, granted, I didn’t have to plan a thing or hardly lift a finger for The BFW, but the event was all about the vendors and we were there to be the models so I really wanted to make them all look good whereas our real wedding day was just all about us and whatever made us feel good and comfortable. Obviously neither was THATTTT difficult of a day, I mean, come on, but all in all, it was a ton of fun to be a part of and we are honored to have been asked to be the bride and groom and it was fun being able to get some shots that we forgot about on our wedding day. I’ll take a free photo shoot any day!!

A huge thank you to the amazing team of vendors! I can’t post this without giving them their credit (because I want to and because I have to hehe)
